Both the pints and games are on fire at the best sports bars in Leeds!

Whether you prefer downing pints while you play pool or finishing cocktails as two blokes throw haymakers in the ring, Leeds has a sports bar to suit your wants.

The city has pubs with darts, joints with old-school games, and even rooftop bars where you can watch footy and the skyline. The choices, like the drinks, overflow!

We’ll share the best ones below—none of those tacky places with busted screens and flat beer.

Grosvenor Casino Leeds Westgate

From neil.parkinson.779

Address: Wellington Bridge St

Contact Details: 0113 389 3700

Operating Hours: Daily – 24 hours

Website

Grosvenor Casino isn’t just about chucking chips or spinning the roulette wheel. It’s where you can tuck into pub grub and catch live rugby or footy matches on their massive, HD tellies.

When it comes to the menu, you have options galore—zesty cocktails, every wine under the sun, and eats from all corners of the globe. If it were up to us though, go with the Wagyu burger for those heavy-hitting umami notes, and wash it down with a frothy beer.

Tip: One of the best ways to enjoy this spot is to try their pre-planned experiences. Have a gander at what’s up for grabs.

  • Thu – 12 pm to 1 am
  • Fri – 12 pm to 2 am
  • Sat – 11 am to 2 am
  • Sun – 12 pm to 12 am

Website

Neon-lit and flashy, Roxy Lanes feels like a sci-fi location—but with pints and Premier League rather than dystopia. Oh, and there are shuffleboards and bowling alleys further cranking the fun levels!

The grub is phenomenal too. Hand-stretched Italian pizzas are our go-to order here. Last time, however, we wolfed down the spiced-up buffalo chicken with a glass of crisp lager.

Tip: Swing by from Sunday to Wednesday for lower prices.

Hyde Park Hotel

From hydeparkpub.leeds

Address: 2 Headingley Ln., Headingley

Contact Details: 0113 274 5597

Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Thu – 12 pm to 11 pm
  • Fri to Sat – 12 pm to 12 am

Website

Hyde Park Hotel drew us with its timeless pub charm, evoked by pool tables, hearty grub, and plasma screens in every corner. During our visit, we watched Brighton and Southampton battling it out. Rugby and golf matches are often shown here, too.

As for bites, their burgers—piled tall with melted cheese, rashers of streaky bacon, and lashings of tangy barbecue—hit the spot. Bright and clean pints of golden ale sorted their heaviness nicely.

Tip: Peep their sports schedule and plan your visit around the matches or sports you prefer.

  • Fri – 12 pm to 1 am
  • Sat – 10 am to 2 am
  • Sun – 12 pm to 11 pm

Website

We popped by The Bower’s Tap for its mellow feel and no-frills pub fare. Their stone-baked spicy pepperoni pizza was the standout, pleasing us with its smoky barbecued beef and lightly seasoned chicken bits.

For drinks, the zesty Aperol spritz did the trick, keeping the chat flowing as we watched Fury and Usyk go at it.

Tip: They have loads of menus, so have a look and get familiar with the options.

Belgrave Music Hall & Canteen

  • Sun – 11 am to 12 am

Website

While not your bog-standard sports bar, Belgrave Music Hall & Canteen still pulls through for footy fans during the Euros or World Cup. Toss in live music nights and a garden terrace for a sip of frozen daiquiris under the stars, and you’re golden.

Beyond that, this 1930s haunt is among Leeds’ friendliest spaces. Their soy-glazed chicken burger with fiery chillies is also A-tier, especially when washed down with a floral ale fresh from the cask.

Tip: The roof terrace isn’t available for bookings. Rock up early if you want that prime spot!

The Original Oak Inn Headingley

From the_original_oak_headingley

Address: 2 Otley Rd, Headingley

Contact Details: 0113 275 1322

Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Sat – 10 am to 11 pm
  • Sun – 10 am to 10:30 pm

Website

The Original Oak is as Yorkshire as flat caps and whippets. Guests can have a chinwag over cold ales while cricket, football, and combat sports go live on big screens.

Their booze menu is lengthy and top-shelf, and we chose their Australian reds—bold with redcurrants and dark choc hints. They go well with their no-nonsense margherita…or any of their sourdough pizza, honestly.

Tip: They have regular deals here. Head to their website to see what’s on.

Website

The Brotherhood of Pursuits and Pastimes never let us miss a scrum or a swing. Large screens are scattered about—even right by the door.

Moreover, they stream stuff like NFL and WWE matches, which most here don’t. Of course, we can’t overlook the overflowing craft beers, full of hoppy-fruity hits and best knocked back with a loaded hotdog or pile of nachos.

Tip: The spaces here are spot-on for private hires. Have a look at the options available.

Website

From sinking shots in shuffleboard to sipping on floral proseccos, BOX gave our squad the ultimate sports bar experience. Moreover, they have 35 HD screens blasting games and shows from Sky, TNT, and Box Office!

We showed up famished too, and those hand-formed burgers in soft brioche buns did wonders. Specifically, it was the spicy and smoky chicken burger that filled us.

Tip: If you’re the type who likes to get a feel of the place before popping over, take a virtual tour of the venue.

Brudenell Social Club

From nath_brudenell

Address: 33 Queen’s Rd, Burley

Contact Details: 0113 275 2411

Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Thu – 12 pm to 12 am
  • Fri to Sat – 12 pm to 1 am
  • Sun – 12 pm to 12 am

Website

If you want to rock out after watching football or NFL, put Brudenell Social Club on top of your list. Their pool room has flat screens and, believe it or not, even the car park boasts an outdoor screen if you fancy a kickabout in the sun!

For the big matches and tournaments, they shift the massive screen to the gig area, so you can watch the action without elbowing your mate for a spot. The show gets better with Brudenell’s caramel-rich and mildly bitter real ale!

Tip: Know who’s performing. You won’t want to end up in a mosh pit if you’re just after a chill time.

Boom Battle Bar Leeds

From kirstieleaper

Address: S43 Ground Floor Level and First Floor Level Victoria Gate

Contact Details: 0113 245 8000

Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Wed – 12 pm to 12 am
  • Thu – 12 pm to 1 am
  • Fri to Sat – 12 pm to 12 am
  • Sun – 12 pm to 11 pm

Website

There was no dull moment at Boom Battle Bar; we started the night chucking axes before hitting a round of golf—except with catapults and conveyor belts as obstacles. Sadly, there wasn’t a game on at the time, but they usually show the big matches here.

To top it off, our team dug into the signature drinks, starting with the rose and lychee martini—fruity, with a gin edge.

Tip: Students score plenty of discounts here, so don’t forget your ID!

The Canary Bar

From canary.bar

Address: The Dockside

Contact Details: 0113 733 4613

Operating Hours: Daily – 11 am to 11 pm

Website

A waterside bar, The Canary Bar serves F1, footy, and boxing action alongside those dreamy River Aire panoramas. Their lagers aren’t too shabby either, offering everything from sharp bitterness to fruity, easy-drinking goodness.

If cocktails are more your style, they also have classics like the zesty cosmopolitan. Bramble is among the big-sellers, as it’s perfectly balanced between tart and sweet, with herby undertones.

Tip: Looking to add some extra fun to your visit? Book the bar for yourself and enjoy their quiz master or karaoke specials.

Toast Bar

From toastbarleeds

Contact Details: 0113 243 9546

Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Thu – 12 pm to 11 pm
  • Fri to Sat – 12 pm to 12 am

Website

Toast keeps things cosy, with its continental style and smaller space, but don’t let that fool you. It’s no snoozefest! Footy and cricket are always rolling on the screen, keeping the atmosphere alive.

Things go up a notch during the big match days when they whip out massive projectors. Additionally, those epic moments get more epic if you clean up Toast’s hop-heavy ales and stone-baked pizzas, arguably their best offerings.

Tip: For the cheapest sips, visit from Sundays to Thursdays, from 4 pm to 7 pm.

Parkside Tavern

From parksidetnq

Address: St Johns House, Merrion

Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Thu – 3 pm to 11 pm
  • Fri to Sat – 12 pm to 12 am
  • Sun – 12 pm to 11 pm

Website

We walked into Parkside Tavern stone-cold sober, but by the time we left, we were grinning like Cheshire cats. The full-bodied draft beer from the tap had us hooked, making playing pool merrier.

Sky has a whole range of sports on offer here too, from boxing to rugby, darts to the Olympics. Footy is the regular though, and Leeds United absolutely trashed Derby County during our visit.

Tip: There’s no onsite parking, but the venue is a short, 5-minute stroll from the Trafalgar Street Car Park.
